“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us,..”

Extract from “The Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens

We are living in extraordinary times.

Brexit, Trump quake, climate change, terrorist attacks, and digital overwhelm are leaving many of us reeling. Whilst our screens might be constantly reminding us of “man’s inhumanity to man” (Shakespeare’s raging King Lear), we are also warmed by the triumph of the human spirit and kindness of strangers.

We are noticing that there is a coming to ground: a shedding and shriving as people want to reconnect to the ground of who they are whilst also reaching for the horizon of their own agency in the midst of our VUCA world. Supervision offers the crucible for this critical work of discovery to take place. This is why our flagship Diploma in Coaching Supervision is attracting more interest than ever and why ICRP is extending our offers to refresh, re-energise and renew practice.

This is also why we are developing the 7C’s – the 7 core human capacities for agency and transformation. The 7C’s work with, and beyond, tools and techniques to refocus attention on the human qualities of Care, Courage, Curiosity Compassion, Creativity, Connection and Contemplation which brings our work alive.
