Finding Your Rhythm Profiling Practice 90: Exercise: Creating Sacred Rituals

Weekly Practice 37

Every week we profile one of the “Reflect to Create! “ practices from my book, they are chosen at random from a jar on my desk.  My invitation is for you to try it out if it speaks to you in some way.

This week we are profiling Practice 90: Creating Sacred Rituals (from page 164 of my book).

Practice 90 is one of the dance steps in The Flow’s Initiating the Invitation. The Flow’s Fertile Void cannot be commanded to serve and support us. Rather we need to create the rituals and invitations within ourselves – and in others who we work with – in order to step into the unknown and access its potentiality. And this means taking care to create our own rituals which can help us to step into our creativity – to resource and support ourselves in ways which can help us to calm our minds, open our hearts and anchor our work.

Practice 90 links to me this weekend which saw me spring cleaning, clearing and sorting – redesigning my work spaces, setting the stage and throwing out old files to make way for the new!

Below are a number of possible ways to create rituals for yourself depending on your circumstances and what works for you:

  • Setting time aside to journal
  • Setting time aside to meditate, exercise or relax
  • Lighting a candle or burning incense or aromatherapy oils
  • Putting flowers or plants on your desk
  • Pay attention to your lighting
  • Placing crystals, icons, photographs or inspirational quotes close to your computer or workstation

Have a go!

Start with small steps.

Reflect on what you are noticing.
